A Ludwig accent drum set is a great beginner drum setI first got to try a ludwig accent drum set at my sisters high school. They bought two for the band class. Things that I noticed about this Ludwig set were: * Good sound * Good hardware The drum cymbals were changed out to Zildjian cymbals and the hardware was a bit worn, but that is because it takes the abuse of more than one drummer, including those who didn't know how to play it. 
I would say that this Ludwig set is great for a beginner drum set. My top choice for a beginner drum set would be a Pearl Forum Drum Set. Ludwig is a strong brand known all over the world for Ludwig drum sets. It isn't something out of "China" or "Taiwan." These sets are popular. They have excellent Kids Drum Sets.
